Pokemon Sors: The VytroVerse Part 2
An eclipse-themed new region with 758 species and 48 Solar and Lunar Eclipse Pokemon
About Pokemon Sors
Three hundred years before the story begins, a Grand Eclipse โ a lunar eclipse followed by a full solar eclipse โ changed Pokemon in the region forever, turning some into Solar or Lunar Forms. Pokemon Sors, Vytron's FireRed hack and the second part of the VytroVerse series, is built around that event and around the people who later tried to reproduce it on purpose.
You play as Asher, a boy born into that 'Eclipse project'. Eleven years after his father Jackson split from his mother Siara, Asher arrives in the Hupest region to compete in the Eclipse Tournament. The story follows his rise through the tournament and, gradually, the business his mother runs โ so it is more of a family drama with a mystery attached than a standard 'collect eight badges' plot.
The scale is big for a GBA hack. Sors offers an almost complete National Dex up to Gen 7 โ 758 species โ plus 48 Eclipse Pokemon, with battle mechanics updated to Gen 7 standards including the physical/special split. Visually it borrows from Black/White and HeartGold/SoulSilver, and the custom soundtrack uses a Black 2/White 2 soundfont.
The final build is Full Release v1.3, updated on December 25, 2021. Within the VytroVerse it comes after the first Saiph and before Pokemon Saiph 2, and its direct sequel, Sors 2, is now in development with a playable story demo.

Difficulty & Who It's For
Sors is a story-first hack. Its draw is the setting, the cast and the Eclipse Pokemon rather than a punishing difficulty curve, which makes it a good fit for players who enjoy new-region adventures with plenty of side content. The Quest Log keeps side missions manageable, and the massive Gen 1-7 Dex means you can build almost any team you like.
You do not need to have played the first Saiph to follow it, but the VytroVerse rewards players who go in order: Saiph, Sors, Saiph 2, then Sors 2. If you finish Sors and want more, Saiph 2 continues the wider series with a full Gen 1-8 Dex and dedicated challenge modes.
Tips for Your First Playthrough
- Turn on the real-time clock in your emulator โ the day/night system and its events depend on it.
- Check the Quest Log regularly; side quests are a big part of the content.
- Experiment with Eclipse Pokemon early, since Eclipsing is the mechanic the whole game is built around.
- Avoid heavy fast-forwarding; it is not recommended for this hack.
- Alongside the main game there is a short April Fools' side build, 'Sors โ Frio's Journey'. It is a joke spin-off, not part of the main story.

What Changed in the Latest Version โ and Sors 2
Full Release v1.3 (December 2021) is the final version of the original Sors, and the game is complete.
The sequel, Pokemon Sors 2 (VytroVerse Part 4), is set three years later. The International Police have broken up Siara's faction, Asher has gone back on his deal with them, and a new protagonist โ Rene or Haru โ joins as a cadet in the Aclyn region. Sors 2 runs on the Complete Fire Red Upgrade with Gen 8 and Legends: Arceus-era data, proper battle AI, a Randomizer, Level Scaling and a Hero Mode with level caps and fixed save spots.
A story demo released in July 2026 is playable until the fourth Rank Up, roughly five hours of content. It is a UPS patch for a clean FireRed v1.0 (US) ROM. Eclipsing is not in the demo yet, and the author lists a handful of known demo bugs, such as Oblivious behaving like Hyper Cutter.

Our Verdict
Pokemon Sors is one of the more ambitious story hacks on FireRed: an original region, a family-centred plot, 758 species plus 48 Eclipse Pokemon and its own battle gimmick. It is complete, and with Sors 2 in development it is the perfect time to catch up on the VytroVerse.
๐ Pros

- Huge Gen 1-7 Dex plus 48 Eclipse Pokemon
- Quest Log, day/night and soaring
- Complete, with a sequel in progress
๐ Cons
- Day/night needs an emulator with RTC
- Fast-forward is not recommended
- Less focused on difficulty than Saiph 2
