Pokemon Mega Power
Two new regions, every Mega Evolution and a story about the scientist behind Mewtwo
About Pokemon Mega Power
Pokemon Mega Power is an Emerald hack by 1158, also known as Wind1158, that flips the usual Pokemon setup. You are not a kid leaving home with a starter. You play as Neil or Tyra, a young scientist from the Ivara region who has already done something remarkable: created Mewtwo. Now the goal is bigger. The protagonist wants that Mewtwo to Mega Evolve without needing a Mega Stone, and that ambition drives the whole plot.
Research is expensive, and that is where Kasper comes in. He is a wealthy businessman who offers to fund the project as long as he shares the credit. It does not take long to learn that he also runs Team Delta, a secretive organization operating in Ivara, and the hero joins them while wondering whether Kasper can be trusted at all. It is a rare hack where the villain team is something you are part of, at least at first, and the story is written around that tension.
As the name promises, Mega Evolution is the headline mechanic. The hack includes every Mega Evolution, and its Pokedex mixes the Gen 1-3 roster with a selection of Pokemon from Generations 4 to 7. The adventure spans three areas: the new Ivara and Lande regions plus a version of the Sevii Islands, with new Gyms and some custom tiles the creator built by hand.
Mega Power was first released in 2014 and has been updated for years since. The creator's PokeCommunity thread currently presents Beta 5.77 as the complete release; some download sites still list older builds such as 5.62 or 5.71, so make sure you have the newest patch. Despite the word beta, the story can be played to the end.

Difficulty & Who It's For
Mega Power is a story hack first. It is not built like Radical Red or Run & Bun with competitive boss teams and level caps, so most players will get through it without heavy planning. Some reviewers mention that a few NPCs use strong moves early and that useful TMs are gated until later, so the early hours can feel slower than in a vanilla game.
It suits players who want a different story premise, enjoy the idea of a protagonist with a past, and want Mega Evolution in a Gen 3 engine without learning a complex battle system. If you mostly care about difficulty or a full modern Pokedex, a CFRU-based hack will serve you better.
Tips for Your First Playthrough
- Patch a clean US Emerald ROM, not a FireRed one, even though the Sevii Islands appear in the game.
- Use the newest build from the creator's thread; older versions had more reported bugs.
- Save in a separate slot before major story events, a good habit for any long beta-labeled hack.
- Keep an eye out for Mega Stones as you explore so your best Pokemon can Mega Evolve once you have the means.
- Do not rely on cheat codes from older versions; players report that some legendary cheats do not work in newer builds.
What Changed in the Latest Version
The project moved through many beta numbers. Early builds were partial demos that ended after the fifth Gym; later betas completed the story and the thread title now marks Beta 5.77 as completed. Community comments on download sites also note that version 5.62 introduced bugs that later builds worked on, which is another reason to grab the latest patch instead of an old pre-patched file.
